Roxy and Solana

My dearest Husband gave me some well deserved alone time in the sewing room and I finally got to sew Roxy and Solana. I have been drooling over these patterns for a looong time and I had a blast. Romy often has very strong reactions to clothing that I sew for her. If she doesn't like something she let's you know and as 3 1/2 year old she doesn't hold back. Fortunately she loved the pants and the dress and even agreed to pictures!!! I used this fabric for the Roxy with ribbon and Westfalen bias tape. For the Solana I used Jean fabric, but my next one will be in poplin. The Solana went together really easy actually, so I think that advanced beginners will have no problems at all :0)

Clearance delay

I was SO hoping that the new Westfalen fabrics and bias tapes would be here by now, but alas they are stuck in Memphis at customs. Hopefully they will clear tonight and when I wake up tomorrow they are on their way here just in time for my Birthday ;-)))

Ottobre sewing

I LOVE Ottobre but I hardly ever sew out of it. Maybe I get overwhelmed by all the possibilities because I look, I plan, I make notes and in the end it just never gets done. Maybe I am still too much of a beginner and still not quite comfortable to put something together without the benefit of photo tutorials ;-)
Nevertheless, today I actually finished a Keiko shirt and a pair of Lokki pants (both from the newest Ottobre issue) and well, I love the fabrics (of course!) but my sewing was less than stellar so I am not very much in love with this outfit. Ella however doesn't seem to care that a seam buckles were it shouldn't and likes this assemble just fine :0)

You can buy single Ottobre magazines or subscribe to Ottobre here

Feliz is here!

The FELIZ pattern by Studion Tantrum arrived today and I will be busy getting all the pre ordered patterns into the mail!

I also got SOLANA by Studio Tantrum. Previously you were only able to get this ultra, one-of-a-kind trouser pattern directly from Farbenmix but now for the first time it is available in the USA.

YOLA and ROXY also came along and I am very excited and ready to sew all of these new patterns!!!

This is so adorable

One of my wonderful customers just send me these images. She used this embroidered border twill for the pants and I think it's just a wonderful and sophisticated outfit for any little Girl. Just look at that smocked top! I also love how she used the flowers to accent the matching jacket and even created a matching headband. Too bad the listing has already ended or I may have been very much tempted to buy it from her :) Thanks so much Nicole for sharing!

Feliz ready for pre order

I have the Feliz now ready for pre order. I am hoping it will be here at the end of July.
The pattern will have written English instructions and also a photo tutorial in English.

A note about the higher price: Nancy has decided to help Mother Earth and has her patterns printed on recycled paper. Therefore her costs have gone up a bit but I am sure we all agree, that being more environmentally friendly is priceless! :o)

Very stylish dog and cat collars

One of my customers has a great way of using the Farbenmix ribbons I sell in my shop! Look at this super cute Euro collar :o) She sells these collars in many sizes for dogs and for cats.
Check them out here.

Feliz!

When I first laid eyes on Nancy's new creation I new that Feliz was one of those patterns that
I simply had to sew as soon as possible. It reminds me of an old fashioned apron dress with a totally new and modern twist to it. Simply genius again... Thank you so very much Nancy!

I used fabric, not from my store, but fabric that I bought a long time ago, right when I started to sew for the first time and didn't even know what "freespirit" was! And of course I didn't know what I was going to use this big, bold, patterned fabric for and so it just waited patiently on the shelf to be used these past years. Feliz seemed to be just the right pattern and both Ella and I love it!

...Hehe... And look! The birds had to make an appearance as well!

What to do on a thundering, blustering day?

Why, you make Sun bread of course! It is the only way to bring some lovely sun light into your kitchen and make the children happy with work and with anticipation for lovely, warm bread.

Uups, our Sun got a little sunburned ;0)

But oh so Yummy with a little butter and Honey!

Berrie from Moonchild Studio

Berrie is a wonderful, super talented Waldorf Doll maker over on Whidbey Island (just across the water from me) and she has started to use fabrics that she found and bought in my store to create clothing for her dolls. She just finished this oh so cute outfit for one of her dolls and allowed me to share this photo with you. Her dolls are sure dressed in style :0)
You can find and buy her creations here!

"..A Waldorf doll is an all-natural doll that is made with all natural fibers. Cotton, wool and mohair are the main ingredients. As a child holds and plays with a Waldorf doll, the wool stuffing holds the child's body heat. No plastic or lead in these babies!.."

She also made other outfits (just as amazing!) and you can view them here. She used Nicki Orange, Estio Lindo and Summer Karo!

New Japanese Fabrics

Like most everybody, I love the Japanese fabrics and specially the Fairy Tale series. I got some today and listed them in the store :) I found out that most of the fairy tale prints are being discontinued :( ... So stock up an create ! :0)
